Description: An Arts and Crafts hand made cast silver salt spoon, featuring a dolphin handle, made by leading British designer silversmith Sarah Jones. The dolphin is beautifully modelled, the wavy handle makes it appear it is swimming, the tail forms the drop where the bowl connects to the handle. The circular bowl is planished (hand hammered) on the back of the bowl, but smooth on the front. The dolphin is smiling, we love this spoon, it is a joy to hold and use. Sarah Jones is one of the 50 leading silversmiths profiled in the book "Designer British Silver, 1930-1985", by Andrew & Styles, a book which we highly recommend. "Her work is quirky and amusing, she is a superb modeller who produces charming animal studies. Her work is in the Royal Collection, a flower study is on Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth's dresser table (pages 266-271).
